Overview

Let other sellers open their own store inside your WooCommerce shop.

Storefold turns your WooCommerce store into a multivendor marketplace. Sellers apply, you approve them, and they manage their products and orders from a clean dashboard on the front of your site. Customers check out once, every seller receives only their part of the order with its share of shipping and tax, and you keep a commission.

This free edition is complete on its own and does not require Pro. Everything is explained inside the plugin: each setting has a short description and a link to the built-in Help and docs screen.

What's new in 1.3.0 (October 17, 2026)

  • Reviews you can moderate. Store reviews can wait for your approval and be hidden, deleted or reported under Storefold, Reviews, sellers can reply in public, and reviews from buyers show a Verified buyer label.
  • More emails, all editable. New emails cover rejected applications and suspended stores (with an optional reason), products waiting for review, approved products and new payout requests, and every marketplace email now has an editable body text.
  • Split orders that add up. Each vendor order now carries its own tax, so "Tax goes to the vendor" pays the right amount, stock is reduced once, and WooCommerce Analytics counts the order once.
  • One set of emails per order. Customers and admins no longer get an extra WooCommerce email for every vendor order, and vendors hear about an order only once it is paid.
  • Refunds that reach every seller. Refunds on the customer's order, shipping and tax included, now come off each vendor's earnings, and a refund started on a vendor order goes back through the customer's payment method.
  • Payouts paid once. A withdrawal can no longer be paid twice by a double click or by two admins at once, and earnings of cancelled or failed orders no longer count in totals.
  • Smaller fixes for sellers. Notes to the customer now reach them, vendor coupons follow the seller of each cart line, downloadable files are stored in WooCommerce's protected folder, and "Sold by" also shows on product pages built with page builders such as Elementor.

How it works

  • Sellers apply. A step by step application form creates the seller's account at the same time.
  • You approve them. Manually or automatically, with an optional seller terms checkbox and spam protection.
  • Customers pay once. One checkout and one order for the customer, with one sub-order per vendor created in the background.
  • Everyone gets their share. The vendor earning goes into their ledger once the order is paid, you keep your commission, and the vendor requests a payout from their dashboard.

For marketplace owners

  • Vendor management. Add vendors yourself, and approve, suspend, reject or delete them one by one or in bulk.
  • Automatic order splitting. One sub-order per vendor with its items, coupon discounts, share of shipping and tax. Parent and sub-order statuses stay in sync, stock is reduced once, and the customer gets one set of WooCommerce emails.
  • Commission as a percentage, a fixed amount per item, or both, with a live example while you type.
  • Shipping and tax. Choose whether they go to you or to the vendor.
  • Earnings and refunds. Earnings become available when the order is completed or paid. Refunds on the customer's order, by item, shipping, tax or amount, take the matching amount back from each vendor automatically, and earnings of cancelled or failed orders are left out of the totals.
  • Append-only ledger for every vendor, with manual balance adjustments.
  • Withdrawals by PayPal or bank transfer, with a minimum amount. A payout can never be paid twice.
  • Product approval. New vendor products can go live immediately or wait for your review, and the vendor is emailed when a product is approved.
  • Store reviews. New reviews can wait for your approval, and you can hide, delete or check reported reviews under Storefold, Reviews.
  • Commissions screen with filters and CSV export.
  • Marketplace overview with monthly numbers, a "needs your attention" list and health checks.
  • "Sold by" labels on product pages (including pages built with page builders), shop listings, cart, checkout (classic and block) and orders.
  • Vendor column and an "All vendors" filter in the Products list.
  • Announcements to all vendors.
  • Setup wizard and full built-in documentation.

For vendors

  • A responsive dashboard that adapts to any theme: overview with setup checklist, products, orders, coupons, earnings, payouts, announcements, reviews and settings.
  • Products: simple and variable products with per-variation price, sale price, SKU and stock, gallery images and downloadable files, stored in WooCommerce's protected folder.
  • Orders with status updates, and shipping tracking and notes shown to the customer.
  • Coupons limited to their own products.
  • Earnings download. Vendors export their own sales and earnings as a CSV file, for all time or a date range. It only ever contains that vendor's rows.
  • Store page at /store/store-name/ with banner, logo, policies, products and reviews.
  • Review replies. Vendors answer reviews in public from the Reviews section, and reviews from buyers show a Verified buyer label.
  • Vacation mode with a custom message, shown on the store page and on product pages.

Marketplace emails

Ten emails, each registered as a WooCommerce email you manage under WooCommerce, Settings, Emails, with editable subject, heading and body text, placeholders and previews:

  • For you: new vendor application, product waiting for review and payout requested.
  • For vendors: store approved, application rejected, store suspended, new vendor order (sent once the order is paid), product approved, payout sent and payout declined.

WooCommerce's own order emails go out for the customer's order only, so customers and admins get one set of emails per order.

Works with what you already run

  • High Performance Order Storage (custom order tables), with all order access through the WooCommerce CRUD layer
  • Cart and Checkout Blocks, including "Sold by" labels in the block checkout
  • WooCommerce Analytics, which counts a split order once
  • Your theme: copy any file from the plugin templates folder to yourtheme/storefold/ and edit the copy

Privacy and security

  • Vendors never see wp-admin and only see their own media uploads, also through the REST API.
  • Every form uses nonces and capability checks, and every database query is prepared.
  • Vendor data and store reviews are included in the WordPress personal data export and erase tools.
  • This plugin does not connect to any external service.

Storefold Pro

Storefold Pro is a separate, standalone edition for larger marketplaces. It contains everything in this free edition and adds:

  • Vendor reports with charts, period comparison and CSV download, plus a report for the whole marketplace
  • Refund and return requests from the customer's order page
  • Customer to seller messaging from store and product pages
  • Per-vendor shipping zones with flat rate, free shipping, local pickup and table rates
  • Automatic weekly or monthly payouts, Stripe Connect payouts and an earning hold period
  • Commission rules per product, per vendor and per product category
  • Seller membership plans, free or paid, with product limits, plan commission, pro-rated upgrades and renewal reminders
  • Several sellers per product, staff accounts and identity verification
  • Customer disputes, an activity log, signed webhooks and CSV vendor import

Only one edition runs at a time: when Pro is active this free edition stands by and all data is kept, so every vendor, order and setting carries over.

Requirements

  • WordPress 6.4 or newer, tested up to 7.1
  • WooCommerce 8.5 or newer, tested up to 11.2.1
  • PHP 7.4 or newer

Frequently asked questions

Does the customer see several orders?
No. The customer pays once and sees one order. Vendor sub-orders are created in the background and hidden from the customer account.

How does a vendor get paid?
The vendor requests a withdrawal from their dashboard. You send the money by PayPal or bank transfer and mark the request as paid under Storefold, Withdrawals.

What happens on a refund?
Refund the customer's order in WooCommerce as usual, by item, shipping or amount. Storefold copies the refund to the vendor orders it covers and takes the matching amount from each vendor's earnings. You can also refund from a vendor order: the refund goes through the customer's order and its payment method.

Does WooCommerce send the customer an email for every vendor?
No. WooCommerce's own order emails go out for the customer's order only. Each vendor gets one "new vendor order" email once the order is paid.

Can vendors use wp-admin?
No. Vendors work from the Vendor Dashboard page on the front of the site.
